Have You Heard?

Have you heard... is just my excuse to express to you, how badly I loved the movie I just watched, and I tell you, this one, is to express one of the hottest big things around the lines of Najia on Nextflix... I know you already have a guess!

If you haven’t heard about the latest Nollywood block-buster series, it’s either you are in the wrong state, country, planet, or side of the earth. Either way you are committing a serious crime.

For those criminal offenders Blood Sisters, is the latest Nollywood block-buster series. The series which stars various A-list Nigerian actors and also stands as a Netflix series, covers various stories in one, ranging from corruption to power, crime, and others. I believe the given catch line for that is, one story, two experiences.

Blood Sisters is a story about two friends who share a strong bond of loyalty, love friendship, such as sisters do. “Friends by choice… bound by blood” No better words could better this friendship between the two main characters, Sarah (In Dima-Okojie) and Kemi (Nancy Isime).

The first season of the series has just 4 episodes, but they are 4 packed, fire episodes. The first episode of the season opens with Sarah’s engagement party, in preparation of her wedding to her fiancé, Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon), with Kola’s sister, Timeyin (Genoveva Umeh) making a dramatic entrance at the party. On the day of the traditional wedding, just after Kola’s brother Femi (Gabriel Afolayan) and his wife Yinka’s (Kehinde Bankole) hired hit-man failed to kill Kola, Kola was accidentally killed by Kemi after she walked in on Kola strangling Sarah. His death was what kicked started the rest of the drama that followed and the trail of bodies, indeed it’s a bloody affair.

All seemed to have been laid to rest, with the family thinking he just ran away to call off the engagement, then Kola’s body was discovered, by a dog, at a shallow grave Kemi and Sarah buried him in, detaching his head from his body. The narrative then changed, the runaway groom, became the murdered groom, leaving his entire family and his best friend Akin (Daniel Etim-Effiong) in shock. And investigation was launched.

Thie investigation was led by Detective Joe aka Chicago (Wale Oja), and he then discovered evidence that pointed to the girls as the suspects, so we all had one advise for the sisters… run sisters run! Kola’s mother Uduwak (Kate Henshaw), not willing to move at the pace of the law, had her bodyguard Uncle B (Ramsey Nouah) track the girls, and the hunt began.

Eventually, Uncle B made the catch, and the season ended with a trail of bodies and Uduwak’s life, hanging at Timeyin’s hands. One gun, 7 people, 3 bodies and 1 detective… who was going to make it home, not in a body bag??

For those still guilty of the crime of not watching Blood Sisters, you already know what to do. And to those who’ve seen it, bottoms up, one for your good taste, and the second, for the season 2 we await.
